Laois Climate Action Festival - October 2024
Ballykilcavan Brewing Company is a family owned business, based on the 13th generation family farm of David and Lisa Walsh-Kemmis. The brewery is a Gold status member of Origin Green and has won 6 national sustainability awards in the last 3 years.
Carbon footprint reduction is a key part of the overall sustainability strategy at Ballykilcavan and as part of this Laois Climate Action Festival event, David will explain the measures taken to date, lessons learned and future plans.

Highlights Tour
During this intriguing experience, you can join brewery owner and 13th generation farmer, David Walsh-Kemmis, on a guided walk through the historic farmyard and hear the stories of his family’s 380-year farming history at Ballykilcavan. In David’s capable hands, visit the on-site working brewery to learn about the artful process behind crafting beer. Understand the provenance of this high-quality beer as you smell the hops and taste the malts that have been made from home-grown farm barley. End with a tutored tasting of four different Ballykilcavan beers in the 240-year-old brewery building.
Terroir Tour
During this experience, you can join brewery owner and 13th generation farmer, David Walsh-Kemmis, on a guided walk around the barley field and hop garden where he grows the ingredients used to make the award-winning Ballykilcavan beers. Then, follow David through the historic stone farmyard and into the on-site working brewery to hear his family stories and learn the artful process behind crafting beer. Following this tour, end with a tutored tasting of four different Ballykilcavan beers in the 240-year-old brewery building.
